During WWII, following the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941, the Canadian Government interned many Japanese Canadians in camps throughout the country. Several high-ranking Japanese officials were transported to the Grove, where they were kept under RCMP guard until the end of the war. After the war, the property was returned to the owners and the Grove resort was reopened.
