Event: Angell Woods Art and Photography Exhibition

Description: An exhibition of works entered in the APAW 2010 Art and Photography Contest. Winners will be announced at the Angell Woods Walk and Picnic on September 18.

Event: Beaurepaire Centennial Triathlon                           

Date: Sunday, August 29

Time: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Location: Beaurepaire Pool and Rockhill Park, 545 Beaurepaire Drive

Come and join us for Beaurepaire Pool’s annual “fun” triathlon, followed at 2:00 p.m. by a BBQ ($), music and games with Party Guard Parties. Teams are comprised of one swimmer, one runner and one cyclist – all of whom are the same age. Grab two buddies and drop by the pool on or after June 19 to register your team.  Free re-useable water bottle for the first 100 registrants, courtesy of the Beaconsfield Cycling Club.

Cost: A minimum $5 donation per person as well as non-perishable items is appreciated. All proceeds go to The Benedict Labré House. Space is limited, so drop by soon.

Description: Over 100 classic cars on display including a 1912 Model T Ford in pristine condition. Presented in collaboration with Les Voitures anciennes du Québec. Over 100 classic cars on display Live music with Denis Cabana’s Dixieland Jazz Band.

Description: What’s hot and what’s not? Our youth can best answer that! While everyone is welcome, this event is geared to teens and adults with a sizzling line-up of entertainment and activities. Let’s heat things up one last time before school starts and the cold sets in.

Centennial Summer Sizzler Program

Event: Shakespeare in the Park ― Romeo and Juliet

Description: Two feuding families. Forbidden love between their teenage offspring. Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s greatest and most popular plays, with all the elements of a blockbuster. Duels. Untimely deaths. Low comedy. High drama. Bumbling nurses. Fumbling priests. Potions that work too well. Poisons that work even better. All fuelled by the mad, intoxicating fury of teenage lovers, whose passion inflamed a city and enthralled audiences for more than 500 years. Why such undying appeal? Ask any teenager. Or better still, their parents. Presented in collaboration with the Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tournée.

Description: Dave Gossage and the Celtic Mindwarp is an upbeat, full intensity Celtic bomb, featuring flashy reels and jigs, high powered songs and intricate arrangements influenced by Dave’s extensive musical experiences. These include jazz, African music, rhythm and blues, drum/bass, Indian music and, of course, Irish and Scottish traditional music. The group includes some of Montreal’s finest Celtic musicians: Dave’s two brothers, drummer Thom Gossage and bassist Bill Gossage; fiddler Jonathan Moorman and singer/guitarist Michael Ayles.
